The BOXES Methodology consists of an introduction and a summary/conclusions together with four sections organised as follows. . The BOXES Algorithm is a history and summary of the method and contains references to research workers worldwide who have studied, or who are studying, the method and its relevance in modern control. . Principles of Systems Engineering is an overview of systems engineering and its place in the design of real-time software systems. . Collected Works by the Author highlights the author's original work and includes sections on potential flaws in the system and how they can be mitigated. . Futures and Self Organization outlines some recent research into how the structure of the method can be made self-organizing, thus eliminating much of the a priori system knowledge currently needed for the method to be possible. Using a derivation of chaos theory, a suggested generic BOXES coefficient is proposed that would make the system almost completely application-independent.
