A Fine copy with near Fine dustjacket which is complete and has a crease to front inner flap. Not dated but release date by publisher was 1979. 31 colour and black and white phot illustrations and map endpapers. After many years of research of the dry salt Lake Eyre in Australia the author and her geologist husband witnessed, in 1974, a new face caused by floodwaters which turned it into a proper lake and regenerated the surrounding desert area with lush growth with waterfowl and wildflowers appearing. This period of transformation is expertly documented up to the lake's return to it's dry state. . Signed by Author. First Edition. Hard Cover. It also includes ingenious methods of protection and the miraculously quick growth of chicks. It can end with a fall migration flight thousands of miles long.
