In Gedichtform wird die Geschichte des "Dieterli" erzählt, der am Sonntag gearbeitet hat und dafür - wohl vom lieben Gott - auf den Mond verbannt wurde. "Lueg Müetterli, was isch im Mond?" fragt das Kind. "He siehsch denn nit, e Ma", antwortet die Mutter und gibt dem Kind auf diese Weise eine Erklärung für das menschliche Gesicht im Mond. Traute Enderle-Sturm hat das Gedicht liebevoll illustriert. Die Noten des später vertonten Gedichts sind im Buch wieder gegeben.
