He is a European Society of Hypertension (ESH) specialist, a member of the directory board of the Italian Society of Hypertension and former secretary and founding member of the Italian Society of Nephro-Cardiology. He further is an associate editor of scientific journals such as Internal and Emergency Medicine, the International Journal of Hypertension and editorial board member of the Journal of Hypertension and the Journal of Nephrology. Prof. Pontremolis research interests include cardio-renal interactions in hypertension, albuminuria as a cardiovascular and renal risk marker and diabetic nephropathy. He is author or co-author of over 150 PudMed indexed publications in peer-reviewed journals.
