Researchers in artificialintelligence, pattern recognition, and psychology discussaspects of vision, speech understanding, sensory-motorcoordination, and their interplay with cognitive andbehavioral functionalities.The papers adopt the computational approach as the basicresearch paradigm. Connectionist models, numerical andstatistical techniques, symbolic (logic-based) formalisms,and hybrid representations provide the formal background tothe research. Some of the papers were prepared for aworkshop held in Trieste, Italy, in October 1992.
