Nicole Studer-Joho untersucht die Ausbreitung von drei sprachlichen Veränderungen im Frühmittelenglischen (1150-1325). Die Studie hat auf diesem Gebiet Pioniercharakter, da sie sich auf Daten des Linguistic Atlas of Early Middle English (Laing & Lass 2008-) stützt, der erst seit 2007 öffentlich zugänglich ist und dessen lokalisierten Texte eine solche Studie zum ersten Mal ermöglichen. Die Autorin illustriert den Sprachwandel anhand von Dialektkarten und zeigt auf, wie moderne Modelle für historische Daten übernommen und angepasst werden können. Die Publikation richtet sich an Forschende und Studierende, die sich mit Sprachwandel in historischen Varietäten des Englischen befassen.
